BRIOs history began in 1884 with basket maker Ivar Bengtsson. Today BRIO is a global corporation, holding the brands BRIO, Alga, Simo and Carena. Since January 1st 2009 the BRIO Corporation is divided into two divisions; BRIO Toy and BRIO Baby. Furthermore BRIO also has the franchise business BRIO Lekehuset Partner which is acting as a separate subsidiary in the corporation, mainly in Norway.
Division BRIO Toy
BRIO toy is a toy distributor for the North European markets and consists of amongst others, Scanditoy. Products are bought from suppliers and distributed through specialist retailers to consumers. In house product development is run through the brands BRIO and Alga which is part of this division.
Division BRIO Baby
BRIO Baby develops, produces and markets prams and push chairs, pram and push chair accessories, car seats and child furniture.
The franchise business BRIO Lekehuset Partner
The franchise business BRIO Lekehuset Partner is one the biggest specialist retailer chains for toys in the Nordic region, with 117 stores in Norway.
